ABOUT US

The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.).  We represent the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Traditional Owners of Melbourne and the Greater Melbourne region, and we take great pride in our responsibility for protecting and managing Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places on Wurundjeri Country.  The Corporation offers a range of cultural services including cultural heritage consultation, environmental land management, cross-cultural education, traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremonies, research and cultural consultations.

THE ROLE

Due to internal progression we have an exciting opportunity available for a Cultural Values Advisor.  Reporting to the Manager, Research Unit, this role will be responsible for a range of Traditional Owner cultural values-based projects.  Key tasks will include preparation and review of assessments and studies, engagement with Wurundjeri Elders, recording of data, conducting research, facilitating project meetings and workshops as well as on-Country activities to support our mission of preserving and promoting our cultural heritage.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be highly organised, resilient and able to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities.  They will hold:

  • An honours degree or above in Anthropology, Indigenous Studies, History (Australian) or Archaeology
  • A successful track record in ethnographic, collaborative and qualitative research
  • Thorough knowledge of Aboriginal cultures (including cultural safety and social issues) and the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006
  • Superior written and verbal communication as well as high level analytical and problem solving skills
